Mental Illness Awareness Month: Part 1

Hi there. Hope you have had a good month so far. Today I have something special for you. something that is rarely talked about. Something that we are afraid to talk about. But I hope that by the end of this post someone out there will have the courage and share out their story. Not necessarily to the world, but at least with someone. This is a collaboration I did with my good friend Zynzii who has penned down the words for this piece. Many of you may not know that May has been set out to create awareness for Mental illness. Through the course of this month, through this collaboration, we hope we will create an impact in at least one person out there. With that said, lets dive straight into it. Enjoy. Do leave a comment below on your feedback and if you have anything to share, I have this forum open. Continue Reading →

Adventures of A City Boy: Summiting Mount Longonot

Hi there. The wait is finally over. I am back to regular posting now, after a long time of procrastination and a massive creative block, but as I hinted on my previous post, I have been working on a number of things that will see a change on my blog on how my posts will be structured as well as my work. That said, now we could get back to the exciting topic we have today. The day I went to Mount Longonot with a group, rather part of a family of close to 18 people. Unlike almost everyone I know, I never really got the chance to travel and explore the country when I was young. This year, I aspire to visit as many places in this country as I possibly could. Longonot was one such place. It was my first time there and here is how it all went down. Just a disclaimer, this post will be long, but thoroughly exciting. Enjoy :).  Continue Reading →

Looking Back at 2015.

Well hasn’t this been an interesting journey. So much has happened over the year I don’t even know where to start. Very good friendships and contacts have been made, This has been a year of lots of self discovery that has made me shape up my craft as the year progressed. This is not to forget the massive creative block I had for majority of the final half of the year, but it is lifting and more work will be put out in the coming year. A number of challenges however arose that for some time almost crippled my creative journey but from those challenges I rose up even more energized to make more art. A number of landmark achievements have been made too, including having the opportunity to meet one of New York’s best photographers José Silva. This was just one among many and I will share some of them with you. Continue Reading →

The Nairobi National Park

Hey there. You remember when I said that I will try to be consistent with my blogging… Yeah, that didn’t work out quite as I hoped. But I’m back with something that I am so excited to share with you guys. So a couple of weeks back I was involved in a project that literally pushed my creativity to some heights I never thought I would achieve. This is because I was documenting kids that are as young as 4 years old, doing what they do best, having fun. On one of the days they had the opportunity to go for a game drive at the Nairobi National Park. I was super excited about this since it would be the first time I was going there, ever since I started my photography. Continue Reading →

Breast Cancer Awareness: The Victors – Part One

Hey everyone. This will be a different post from the usual. As October comes to an end, a pressing issue has to be addressed. This is Cancer Awareness and for this series we will be talking about Breast Cancer Awareness. This is a joint project that was conceptualized and implemented with a very good friend of mine who is not so new on this blog, Zynzii Oyiera. As part of our project we decided that we would speak to and get stories of various people that had conquered Breast Cancer. This was made possible by Hilda Muthoni who linked us to a group of women based in Nyeri, who formed a support group for people who are undergoing cancer treatment within the region. On the 17th of October we all, including our very good friend, a Violinist, Paul Macharia, embarked on the journey to Nyeri to meet this group of women. We got a chance to hear their different stories and the challenges they faced through the treatment. For us it was an eye opening experience as we got to feel the emotional side as well as the physical side to what they underwent from the time they got diagnosed with this curable disease. Here is the first story, stay tuned to the blog for more stories. Do share this widely as it may change someone’s life out there. Also do leave a comment below on your thoughts about this project. Blended

Hello there, today I have something different to show you guys. Everyday we wear our outfits due to various reasons. Some for work, some to impress that person conducting their interviews, others to look cool for school, others to make sure that they look their best when they go on that special date with that special someone. Many times we never notice that what we wear is actually a perfect match with the environment around us. Continue Reading →
